Ch 1: The Wanderer Part 3

"It seems I'm still better at stealth than you." Behind him, he never thought someone would follow him. But even if it was a friendly his instincts kicked in. Sword in hand with a quick heel turn and his blade was directed at the mystery man's neck. The person only smiled at the sight of the blade. He was a blonde. Short scruffy hair, green eyes and he looked like a drug smuggler with nicer clothes. Brown biker jacket, white t-shirt and scrapped up ranch jeans. His smile was wide and his teeth were clean. He was around the same age as the other man, but a little more light-hearted with the way he stood. His right hand was against his hip and he was stood at an angle. "Overconfidence has always been your weakness Kaeil." Kaeil shrugged his shoulders and stepped inside as the man put his sword away and walked into the house. They walked into the kitchen only to see that it was a kitchen/armory. Many swords and knives were clattered in stands and there was even an old sharpening machine in the center. The rest of it was a regular kitchen. Wooden cupboards with numerous supplies in them from cooking utensils to food to make and prepare. There was a small fridge that sat on a separate counter. On the far wall was a large bay window that out-looked a beautiful sunset over the destroyed homes of many dead innocents. "You still stuck in this place Balsavi?" "Its Bal, and yes. I'm not a mercenary for hire like you. I don't get paid for the people I get in fights with." "You'd be great at it. You'd-" "Get paid for killing innocents who disobey my employer's rules and regulations, not even in support of Sovereign's fake attempts of trying to bring peace into the country." "You still believe this place is worth saving?" "I never said I could save it. I said I would rid it of its evil" Kaeil shook his head and only cracked another smile. "So, you expect the people to save themselves?" "You know that's not what I meant." "But its what most would think of you. That're you're a heartless man who is only here to kill those YOU see as evil." Bal began to look over his weapons, taking up a longsword and walking over to the sharpening machine. "If that's how they see me, then they are blind." Bal begins to sharpen the sword, the scratching noise rising slowly and sparks began to fly. Even the ones that hit Bal's face were nearly scalding hot as he put all his force into it. "Come on man, give this gig up. You can't be the Wandering Hero forever." "They call me a hero. I'm just here to save those who need my help." "That's all the people who are left to live in these bad places who aren't bad themselves." the grinding stopped and Bal got up as he took up the sword and looked at it. He juggled it between his hands, trying to figure out which he would prefer it in. Out of nowhere shouting and gunshots were heard. Both Bal and Kaeil picked up the noise and rushed out the house. What they saw was shocking. Several families were being draged off into carriages with Sovereign soldiers pointing some kind of rifle at them. Other families were getting shot down for disobedience. Bal's fists clenched as his right hand began to pull out his katana. The longsword in his left hand, Bal was ready to strike with the anger that was in his heart. Kaeil slowly put his left on Bal's shoulder and frowned. "You will only make things worse." "I can't stand here and do nothing like you." "Then I won't stop you."
